Watch: Two men crash wedding, follow woman to hostel and throw letter onto balcony; viral video sparks fear and outrage
A video going viral on social media has triggered strong reactions online. In the clip, two men are seen talking about attending a wedding without being invited and then following a woman they noticed there. What has disturbed many viewers is that the men recorded the situation and continued trailing her even after she left the function.
Many users criticized the behaviour shown in the video, saying actions like these are one of the reasons women often feel unsafe in public spaces.
In the video, one of the men explains how everything started. He says that he and his friend went to a wedding even though they were not invited. During the function, he noticed a woman and said he liked her.
He says in the clip, “Mai aur mera dost ek bin bulai shaadi mein gaye aur waha par mujhko ek ladki bahut jyada pasand aa jati hai. Aur fir hum wahi par uska picha karne lagte hai. Aur wait karte hai ki jaise hi wo waah se bahar niklegi, hum usse acche se bat karenge.”
The video shows the two men moving around the venue while keeping an eye on the woman.
Later in the clip, the woman is seen leaving the venue. One of the men then looks at the camera and says, “Hey, guys! Mai ja raha hu eske liye baat karne.”
However, he soon notices that she is accompanied by her brother and decides not to approach her at that moment.
But instead of leaving, the two men continue following her. In the video they say, “Toh fir kya, hum bhi uska peecha karne lage.”
The footage then shows them travelling behind her scooter as she heads towards her hostel.
The video later shows the two men reaching the hostel area. They appear to enter the premises and try to figure out which room belongs to the woman.
At one point, they write a note and throw it towards a balcony, which seems to surprise people inside the building. Soon after doing this, the men are seen running away from the spot.
The caption shared with the video criticized their actions. It read, “These guys spotted a girl at a wedding function; after the event, they stalked her all the way, saw her enter the hostel, sneaked back to find her room, threw a letter inside, & ran away. Because of weirdos like them, girls never feel safe on the streets.”
As the video spread online, many users expressed anger and concern about the behaviour shown in the clip.
One user wrote, “I came across this video last night, and I am DISGUSTED beyond words. This boy is romanticizing stalking, and with women’s safety such a big issue in India, this is really concerning. There were a buttload of comments from men appreciating him. I don't know if it was staged or not, but it felt scary.”
Another person commented, “These two should be in jail.”
A different user said, “People who behave like this don’t realize they are the reason girls constantly have to worry about their safety.”
One more comment demanded action and read, “Take action and teach him a lesson. The fact that we don’t do anything and remain quiet is what makes these chapris bold.”
While many people criticized the behaviour, some users also questioned whether the video might have been staged.
However, even those who raised this possibility said such content can still have a negative impact. One person wrote, “Even if staged, such content should be banned to avoid encouraging psychos who might believe it to be true.”
Another comment said, “Even if this is staged, these parasites should understand that not everyone will get it, and it will lead to more girls getting harassed and other worse things.”
