What was supposed to be an entertaining robot demonstration took an unexpected turn, and not in a good way. A video from a public event in Shaanxi province is now making rounds online after a humanoid robot accidentally hit a young boy during its performance.

A moment no one expected

The robot was in the middle of a dance routine, moving through spins and kicks inside a designated area. Everything seemed controlled until one move went off. Its arm swung out and struck a child who was standing nearby.

People around reacted almost immediately. Staff rushed in and pulled the robot away from the edge of the area. Even then, the machine didn’t stop – it simply carried on with its programmed routine.

The robot behind the incident

As mentioned in a report by Hindustan Times, the machine is believed to be Unitree Robotics’ G1 humanoid model. It weighs close to 35 kilograms and is priced at around $13,500. The robot is designed for research and commercial use, and with 23 joints, it can perform complex movements, including dance routines like the one seen in the video.

Once the clip surfaced online, reactions came in fast. Many people were concerned about how easily things could have gone worse. A few pointed out that even a light hit from a metal machine like this isn’t harmless.
