Watch here: Cockroach in biryani? Birthday celebration at Barbeque Nation Gorakhpur sparks outrage
A recent incident from Gorakhpur is drawing attention across social media and among regular diners. What began as a simple birthday outing has evolved into a broader discussion about restaurant cleanliness. A viral video from the evening has reignited public scrutiny over food safety management at popular dining establishments.
As mentioned in a report by India Today, on Wednesday, around 4:30 pm, Sachin Verma visited a Barbeque Nation outlet inside a mall in Gorakhpur. He was there with family and friends to celebrate his son Satvik’s birthday.
The group included around 20 people. Among them, some ordered vegetarian food, while others chose non-vegetarian dishes. The meal started normally with starters being served.
The situation changed when the group moved to the main course. Sachin’s friend was eating non-vegetarian biryani when he reportedly noticed a small dead cockroach on his plate.
He had already finished his starters and had just begun eating the biryani when he spotted it. After the incident, several people at the table stopped eating.
Sachin Verma raised concerns over the hygiene at the restaurant. He accused the outlet of serving food in unhygienic conditions and not maintaining proper cleanliness.
Members of the group also recorded a video at the restaurant. This video was later shared on social media and quickly went viral.
The restaurant management responded to the incident. The manager admitted that there was a mistake. He said, “I admit that a mistake has happened. However, we take full care of cleanliness. We don’t know how this happened or where it came from.”
The operator has been issued a notice and directed to address the issues. The restaurant has also been asked to remain closed until a re-inspection confirms compliance with safety standards.
