Watch: California woman sets Guinness World Record for her unbelievably long tongue

Chanel Tapper, a student from California, USA, has earned the title for the longest female tongue, measuring an incredible 9.75 cm (3.8 inches) from the tip to the middle of her lip. That’s nearly twice the length of an average human tongue– making her a standout in the record books.
A childhood discovery
According to a report presented by the Hindustan Times, Tapper first noticed her unusually long tongue when she was eight. It was during a Halloween photo session with her mother, but she didn’t think much of it until the pictures were printed. Only then did she realize just how different it was. In an interview with Guinness World Record, she recalled, "I noticed I had a long tongue when the pictures from Halloween were printed and I saw it… but I guess it became apparent in middle school when people started commenting on it." Since then, her unusual features have been impossible to ignore.

It’s not every day you meet someone with a tongue the size of a smartphone, and Tapper enjoys the surprised reactions people have when they see it in person. Some are fascinated, while others are outright startled. "I love it when people get such a shock that they scream in horror," she shared with Guinness World Record.

While Chanel Tapper holds the record for the longest female tongue, the title for the longest tongue in the world goes to Nick Stoeberl from the USA. His tongue measures 10.1 cm (3.97 inches)-- slightly longer than Tapper’s, as per Guinness World Record.

As per the Hindustan Times report, while visiting the UK, he appeared on the talk show This Morning, where he wrapped his tongue in cling film and painted a live portrait of the hosts, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. As he worked, one of the amazed presenters couldn’t help but joke about it, saying, "I feel like I shouldn't be watching you do this; it feels very personal."
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Stoeberl’s tongue is so long that he can lick his own elbow, a feat most people consider impossible, according to the report.
