Viral video: Can you survive in Bengaluru on Rs 18,000? This 22-year-old intern says 'yes'
Living in Bengaluru has a reputation. It is exciting, fast, and costly. For most young professionals, especially those just starting, handling monthly expenses in such a city can feel like a constant juggle.
But a 22-year-old intern, Amy Arora, is now going viral for a reason many did not expect. She is managing her entire month on just Rs 18,000, and people online cannot stop talking about it.
Let’s be real, rent is where most of the salary disappears. Amy seems to have handled that part smartly. She stays in a PG and pays around Rs 7,200 a month. No fancy apartment, no extra burden, just a practical choice that keeps things affordable.
Instead of ordering in every other day, she has stuck to a meal service that costs approximately Rs 3,600 per month. It is simple, consistent, and most importantly, it does not burn a hole in her pocket.
Even with limited office days, travel is unavoidable. She visits twice a week, which brings her monthly travel expenses to around Rs 1,600. Not huge, but definitely something you cannot ignore.
What stands out is that she has not cut out fun completely. Amy sets aside about Rs 2,000 for eating out, another Rs 2,000 for online shopping, and roughly Rs 1,500 for other small personal needs. It is balanced and controlled but not restrictive.
Her idea of unwinding is refreshingly simple. Instead of expensive outings, she mentioned doing things like pizza-making with friends. It is a social, enjoyable, and budget-friendly activity.
As expected, the internet had a lot to say. Some were impressed, while others could not quite believe it.
One user commented, “Your expenses are so reasonable & on budget.”
Another wrote, “I think I am living in the Bangaloreverse.”
A third added, “Bro, that's so cheap; I spent way more than that.”
