Every day, young students step into school buses expecting to learn, to grow, to enjoy childhood. Yet more often than not, their journeys are just the daily routine. Instead of calm morning rides or relaxed evenings, they experience delays and traffic chaos. Recently, a video recorded by some students went viral about the same
What does the video show
Three schoolgirls, Nadia, Anya, and Meher, filmed a school‑bus ride that went viral, trying to reveal what their daily commute in Bengaluru has become. The girls said things like, “So, this is where we spend most of our time, in this bus.” In the video, the bus bounces over potholes; “I promise I didn’t fake that. These are actually the roads of Bangalore,” one says. They live about 14 km from school, but their return journey takes almost two hours because of traffic and road conditions.
Effects on study, health, and routine
The longer return time has pushed their school day past when they used to finish. “We used to reach home at 3.50, now we’re reaching at 4.30. Because of that, we have to postpone extracurricular activities… it leaves us with less time to study,” they say. The ride itself causes physical strain because of the bumps and jolts, which also sometimes injure students and make them emotionally exhausted. The constant fatigue affects their energy levels and mood.
The bus nearly overturns!
The video came out just after a school bus nearly overturned on the Panathur–Balagere road, where roads had been washed by rain and badly poked with craters. Many Bengaluru residents related to the girls’ experience, as it reflected a daily struggle rather than an isolated problem.
Social media reactions
As of the most recent update, the video had crossed over 920.8K views and got hundreds of comments online, with many users criticizing the government for failing to address the worsening road conditions in Bengaluru.
One user said, "These kids will be voters in a few years, and when they do, I hope they assert their basic civil rights sufficiently, because we have already let them down." Another added, "Well said. I hope we don't see their apology video tomorrow." Others praised the students, saying, "Such logical and sensible girls, confidently speaking their mind. And being respectful. The type of feminism I wanted."
Another added, "The roads in Bengaluru are so bad, schoolkids are making headlines. But don't panic — a holy renaming ceremony will surely patch the potholes."
The viral video comes shortly after a separate incident where a school bus, carrying around 20 children, almost tipped over on Balagere Main Road, as one of the tyres sank into soft ground after the vehicle slightly veered off the road, sparking concern over the safety of daily school transport in the area.
