Video: This Gurgaon eatery has a robot serving food – internet reacts
If someone told you a robot is serving chole bhature in Gurgaon, you’d probably think it’s a gimmick. But a viral video suggests otherwise.
A clip from a local outlet in the city is doing the rounds online, and it shows something you don’t see every day. Instead of a waiter balancing plates, a robot rolls up to the table and delivers the food.
The restaurant is Om Sweets, a familiar name for many in the area. It’s the kind of place people visit with family, or drop by for something quick and comforting. Which is why seeing automation inside it feels slightly unexpected.
In the video, the robot moves through the dining area with four stacked shelves carrying multiple dishes. It stops at the right table and waits while customers pick up their food. At one point, it’s seen serving honey chilli potato. No one in the clip seems alarmed. In fact, most diners appear curious.
But once the video hit social media, reactions came quickly.
Some people were clearly impressed. One user wrote, “Our all-time go-to place nearby,” hinting that the robot only adds to the charm of their regular hangout.
Others weren’t so enthusiastic.
A comment that gained attention read, “We already have such a huge population in our country. Don’t use this kind of technology for work that humans can easily do. Tell the robot to clean tables instead. With such a large population, you’re already reducing people’s job opportunities.”
That concern about jobs came up more than once in the discussion. For some viewers, the robot wasn’t just a novelty. It raised a bigger question about whether automation should replace roles that people are willing and able to do.
Then there were those who saw both sides. One person commented, “While it enhances efficiency and adds a futuristic vibe, I hope the human warmth in service doesn’t completely disappear.”
And that seems to be the underlying tension here. Efficiency versus personal touch. Speed versus conversation. A smooth machine versus the familiar exchange between server and customer.
For now, the robot continues doing its rounds at Om Sweets. Plates go out. Customers eat. Phones record.
Whether it becomes the norm or remains a talking point, the video has already done its job. It has made people pause and think about how quickly technology is stepping into spaces that once felt purely human.
