Video: Cleaner caught on camera doing THIS at Dadar station; netizens furious
Mumbai commuters are talking about cleanliness again after a video from Dadar railway station went viral on social media. The clip has sparked debate about how waste is managed at one of the busiest stations in the city. It shows a cleaner handling plastic bottles in a way that left many viewers questioning standard cleaning practices.
The video was shared by X user Singh Varun, who tagged @drmmumbaicr and wrote, “I don’t know what kind of cleanliness drive @drmmumbaicr has asked his men to follow at Dadar station.” His post quickly drew attention, and hundreds of people started discussing what they saw.
In the short clip, a railway worker can be seen sweeping the platform. According to the caption shared with the video, the bottles were first removed from a dustbin and then tossed onto the railway tracks before the platform was cleaned.
Given that Dadar connects both Central and Western Railway lines and handles heavy daily traffic, the visuals raised questions about safety and hygiene. Many commuters wondered why trash would be moved onto tracks rather than disposed of directly.
The X user later added context in the comments, suggesting the bottles were thrown onto the tracks so they could be collected shortly after. He wrote that the bottles were thrown “so that this man can come minutes later and collect them,” while tagging Central Railway and the Rail Minister of India.
He also shared another clip showing workers picking up plastic bottles from the tracks, but this explanation did not fully calm the online discussion.
Responses in the comment section reflected a mix of concern, criticism, and sarcasm. One user wrote, “No supervision or accountability is the name of the game that these contract-based workers are employed to do.”
Another questioned the person filming, saying, “Why didn’t you confront that person???? If he did wrong, you too committed a mistake by not stopping him.”
Some reactions were sarcastic, like the comment, “He will get double money… Once for cleaning the platform and again for cleaning the track.”
At the same time, some people pointed out that waste pickers are an “integral part of the garbage disposal system in cities,” suggesting there may be more context behind the action.
