The station buzzed with disbelief

According to the same article, Haji filed a formal complaint against the meat vendor, claiming the purchase soured his festive plans.
Locals speculated the ram was simply too old, making the flesh notoriously tough like leather that laughs at ladles. According to the Deccan Chronicle, people in the area believe that if the mutton is too old, it won’t cook.CI Ananda Rao sprang into action, contacting the vendor directly. The vendor agreed to replace the defective meat with an equal quantity of fresh mutton, and Haji walked away with good-as-new cuts, ready for round 21 of cooking!

But why did the first batch remain uncooked?

The vendor stayed mum on why the first batch flunked so spectacularly, but old mutton was probably credited to its toughness, however the vendor stayed mum.
