“Strider” and “Comet Azure”? Elon Musk reveals the unexpected stories behind his twins’ names and the Indian connection
Elon Musk, the man behind Tesla, SpaceX, and a growing empire of innovative ideas, doesn't often discuss his family life. However, he recently surprised fans by sharing something on social media about his twins.
with Neuralink exec Shivon Zilis. Replying to a photo from Tesla Owners Silicon Valley on X, Musk spilled the beans on their super-unique names, pulled from fantasy worlds, science legends, and video games. It's a peek into the quirky world of one of the busiest dads on the planet, who juggles rockets, cars, and a big brood of kids with names that sound like they belong in a sci-fi novel.
The twins, born via IVF in 2021, join his other children from past relationships, each with names that spark endless chatter online. Fans love how Musk mixes pop culture with real-world heroes, and this post lit up X with reactions.
Elon Musk stepped into dad mode on January 8, 2026, when he talked about his 4-year-old twins, Strider Sekhar and Comet Azure, whom he shares with Shivon Zilis, a top Neuralink executive. The Tesla CEO replied to a Tesla Owners Silicon Valley X post featuring a photo of him with the kids from a May 2025 event. There, he explained their unique names and the inspiration behind them.
"Me with my son, Strider Sekhar (named after Aragorn & great Indian physicist Chandrasekhar) and daughter, Comet Azure, named after the most powerful spell in Elden Ring," Musk wrote on X, as quoted by People magazine
Strider draws from Aragorn's alias in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, while Sekhar honours Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, the Nobel-winning Indian-American astrophysicist, famous for work on stars and black holes. Comet Azure comes from a top spell in the hit video game Elden Ring, which Musk once called "the most beautiful art I have ever seen" on X.
Musk's family tree is huge and full of firsts. He and ex-wife Justine Wilson had son, Nevada Alexander, in 2002, who sadly passed at 10 weeks. They later welcomed twins Vivian and Griffin, plus triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian.
With ex Grimes, he has X Æ A-12 born in 2020, Exa Dark Sideræl born in 2021, and Techno Mechanicus. With Zilis, besides the twins born in November 2021 via IVF, they have a daughter, Arcadia, born in February 2024.
There were also rumours about a child, Romulus, with Ashley St. Clair in early 2025, and a fourth with Zilis, Seldon Lycurgus, around the same time.
At 54, juggling his role in US policy conversations and heading big companies, he rarely shares the pictures of his kids. But posts like this receive fan love and initiate chatter on his vision for humanity's future through family.
