‘Standing here, I feel what connects us…’: Chinese Ambassador shares Ganga Aarti glimpse from Varanasi

China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, recently visited Varanasi and attended the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. He shared a video on social media showing the ceremony being performed on the banks of the Ganga River.
The visuals showed priests performing the aarti using diyas and lamps, while chants could be heard during the ritual. The ghat was also seen filled with people who had gathered to witness the evening ceremony.

He also noted the large crowd that gathers during the ceremony. His message focused on the overall setting of the daily aarti in Varanasi.
The ambassador also referred to India and China in his post. He described both countries as two of the world’s oldest civilizations that are still active today.
He added that witnessing the ceremony gave him a sense of connection, linking the experience to this shared historical background.
