Social media erupts over Donald Trump’s new TIME magazine cover
Donald Trump is making headlines once again — but this time, it’s not just for stopping nth war. The president’s latest , which hails him as a “peacemaker” following his role in the , has set social media ablaze- largely because Trump himself can’t stand the photo.
“They ‘disappeared’ my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Really weird!” he added. “I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles, but this is a super bad picture, and deserves to be called out. What are they doing, and why?”
The remark instantly ignited a storm of reactions across X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Truth Social, with users debating whether the photograph was a subtle dig or a creative tribute. The TIME cover accompanied a feature that praised Trump’s mediation in the Israel-Gaza conflict, describing his efforts as a potential “strategic turning point for the Middle East.”
The magazine’s Instagram post announcing the issue read:
“The living Israeli hostages held in Gaza have been freed under the first phase of Donald Trump's peace plan. And as part of the deal, Israel released 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and an additional 1,700 Gazans detained after Oct. 7, 2023.”
TIME added that the agreement “could become a signature achievement of Trump’s second term,” though it cautioned that “while Israel and Hamas have accepted the two-phase agreement, there remains the chance it could unravel.”
Another complained, "TIME magazine just dropped their new cover with @realDonaldTrump, and this is seriously the photo they went with for their cover? Are you kidding me, it's almost like they purposely picked the worst picture out of the bunch. Show my President respect!"
While a few other Trump supporters called for the boycott of TIME for 'deliberately' choosing such an unflattering picture of their President.
“Worst of all time,” says Trump
Posting on Truth Social in the early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 14, Trump wrote, “Time Magazine wrote a relatively good story about me, but the picture may be the Worst of All Time.”“They ‘disappeared’ my hair, and then had something floating on top of my head that looked like a floating crown, but an extremely small one. Really weird!” he added. “I never liked taking pictures from underneath angles, but this is a super bad picture, and deserves to be called out. What are they doing, and why?”
