Russian YouTuber Vitaly apologises to Indian man after wrongly accusing him of being a child predator: ‘We are deeply sorry’

Russian YouTuber and content creator Vitaly Zdorovetskiy recently went viral online after he wrongly accused an Indian man of being a child predator in a sting operation gone wrong in California.

In videos being circulated online, the YouTuber, better known by his username VitalyzdTv, along with his team surrounded the man in a neighbourhood, accusing him of inviting a 16-year-old girl on a date. The girl, accompanying the group claimed the man sent her messages on Snapchat.

However, the man, later revealed to be Akash Singhania, said that the woman he was supposed to meet was 18 and immediately called the cops. The group including Vitaly and other men kept accusing Singhania while he requested them to read his texts.

"You are one of those tech Indians, smart ones huh," said Vitaly while accusing the man of having two Snapchats. "He either deleted the snaps or he has a burner snap that he uses," claimed another while adding that there might be a second phone.

"I am not trying to fight this, I am not a violent person," added Singhania while attempting to share his side of the story. However, Vitaly accused him of being a "smart Indian" and "cheating" through the incident.

Social media reacts

Many on the internet called out the YouTuber for his false accusations and disturbing an innocent man's life. "Predator hunting is low tier content. If you get it wrong you completely ruin somebody’s life," wrote a user on X.

"Not only falsely accused an innocent man but also was racist during it," added another.

"You are a criminal and the way your team was threatening that dude and the way you were using racial slurs and was making fun of his accent…I hope he sues," one wrote.

Later, police arrived on the scene and helped clarify the situation. The YouTuber also shared a video on social media platforms including Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) issuing apologies. "We wrongly identified and accused Akash Singhania. We were completely wrong and made a terrible mistake," he said.

"Our team and I messed up and we are deeply sorry to Akash. Whoever has those videos, delete it. The Snapchat messages got messed up, it was the wrong time, wrong place," he added.

Later, Singhania took to X to share a statement writing, "My world was turned upside down this weekend. As some of you may have seen, I was featured on a recent episode of Vitaly Zdorovetskiy’s live series, where I was wrongfully portrayed as someone attempting to engage in inappropriate conduct. This accusation is completely false."

He added that since the incident, Vitaly has publicly acknowledged that "this was a mistake" through both written and video statements. Moreover, he thanked the officers from the Santa Ana Police Department who conducted their own assessment and confirmed that Singhania is "innocent." "I am sincerely grateful to Officers Renald Galstian, Lorenzo Sanchez, and Joanna Hatziefstratiou for their professionalism and for taking the time to carefully evaluate the situation and establish the truth," he wrote.

He added that the incident caused harassment, judgment, and damage to his personal and professional relationships and highlighted the importance of due process and verifications because "mistakes, when made publicly, can have serious consequences on innocent lives."
