The world awaits the announcement of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner, and the buzz surrounding the award has reached a fever pitch. Among these, the Nobel Peace Prize has a unique character. Unlike the others, which are awarded in Sweden, the Peace Prize is presented in Oslo, Norway, on the specific instruction in Nobel’s will.

The winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize will be revealed tonight at 11 am local time in Oslo, which is 2:30 pm IST. The formal award ceremony will take place later on December 10, marking the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death.

Interestingly, the Peace Prize does not follow strict criteria. Popular faces who have been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize
Although the official list remains confidential, several names have made headlines due to public nominations and political endorsements.
One of the most talked-about figures is Donald Trump, who has actively promoted his case for the prize. Backed by figures like Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and US Congressman Buddy Carter, Trump was nominated for helping broker a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. However, some of these nominations reportedly came after the February deadline.
The late Pope Francis was also nominated for his work promoting peace and fraternity; however, no Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded posthumously till date.
Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan, currently in jail, has been nominated for his work in democracy and human rights by the Pakistan World Alliance and Norway’s Partiet Sentrum.
Elon Musk was put forward by a Slovenian politician for defending free speech, while Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim was recognised for his diplomatic efforts in Southeast Asia, especially in regional peace talks.
