A man known as the "Cannibal of Puebla" has been arrested following a shocking and disturbing crime that unfolded in Mexico recently. The 32-year-old suspect, identified as Alvaro, is a builder by profession and is accused of killing his wife Maria Montserrat while allegedly under the influence of a prohibited substance.
Alvaro has reportedly confessed to the murder and the disposal of body parts in plastic bags.
According to reports, he dismembered her body, consumed parts of her brain in tacos, and used her shattered skull as an ashtray. The horrifying incident occurred on June 29, and Alvaro was apprehended at their home in Puebla on July 2.
Authorities claim that he committed the crime following instructions from Santa Muerte (Our Lady of Holy Death) and the devil. The victim's grieving family is seeking justice as investigations into this distressing case continue.
Less than a year ago, Alvaro entered into matrimony with Maria Montserrat, who was 38 years old at the time. Maria Montserrat was a mother to five daughters, ranging in age from 12 to 23.
His stepdaughters were informed of the crime when he called to confess two days later. The victim's mother revealed a history of violence and sexual harassment inflicted upon her daughter by Alvaro. Reports indicate that the couple had a devotion to Santa Muerte, with a black magic altar found in their home.
"He told one of her daughters to come and collect her mum because 'I already killed her and put her in bags'," the victim's mother Maria Alicia Montiel Serran, told local media.
The Puebla Prosecutor's Office is actively investigating the case and working to locate the remaining body parts for DNA testing and identification.
