Kristin Cabot speaks out: Woman on Coldplay kiss cam with CEO boss finally breaks her silence
The human resources executive filmed embracing her married boss on a giant screen at a Coldplay concert has broken her silence, insisting the moment was not part of a sexual relationship and describing it as a single, alcohol-fueled mistake.
Kristin Cabot, 53, and then-Astronomer CEO Andy Byron were caught in a close embrace during a July 16 show in Boston. When the pair realized they had appeared on the concert’s kiss cam, they abruptly pulled apart and tried to hide, a reaction that helped propel the clip to viral status.
Speaking to The New York Times, Cabot said the incident was a one-time lapse in judgment. “I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” she told the newspaper. “And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.”
Since the video spread online, Cabot said she has been subjected to intense public shaming. She told the Times she has been mocked by celebrities, labeled an “adulterer” by strangers she encounters in public, and received more than 60 death threats.
Cabot acknowledged that she had a “crush” on Byron and had been excited to introduce him to her friends, but maintained that, before that night, the two had not kissed. She said that although they shared tequila cocktails, danced together, and exchanged a kiss in their VIP balcony seats, it was the first and only time anything physical happened between them.
Reflecting on the fallout, Cabot described the incident as a “cliché” and expressed concern for her children. “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up,” she said. “But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”
The moment drew immediate attention inside the stadium after Coldplay frontman Chris Martin addressed the couple from the stage. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy,” Martin told the crowd. Byron, seeing himself on the screen, appeared to mutter, “F****** hell, it’s me.”
Cabot told the Times she felt “embarrassed and so horrified” as soon as she realized they had been broadcast, recalling that she and Byron quickly retreated to the bar. At the time, she said, she was worried about two things: her career and her estranged husband, Andrew, who she said was also at the concert with a date. Cabot and Andrew had been married for two years but were separated when the incident occurred, and she said she did not want to humiliate him.
She also said she was acutely aware of how damaging the optics were. “I’m the head of HR and he’s the CEO. It’s, like, so cliché and so bad,” she recalled.
According to Cabot, she and Byron later sat at the bar in shock, discussing how to move forward. They went together to her apartment in the Boston area and agreed they needed to inform the board of Astronomer about what had happened. Although they drafted an email that night, the footage had already gone viral on TikTok by the time it was sent the next morning.
Both Byron and Cabot were placed on leave as Astronomer launched an internal investigation. Shortly afterward, Byron resigned from his position as CEO.
