Influencer turned gangster? Arrested in Ludhiana for extortion and blackmail
Jasneet Kaur, also known as Rajbir Kaur, an Instagram influencer, was detained by the Ludhiana Police on suspicion of extortion and blackmail. The cops claimed that Kaur was extorting her pals on social media.
Jasroop Kaur Batth, the assistant commissioner of police in Ludhiana (West), confirmed the arrest and claimed that Kaur's male accomplice, Lucky Sandhu, had also been prosecuted. "A local businessman complained to us that the accused had been threatening to blackmail him. There are claims that the defendant had contact with some gang members who would threaten the victims." The claims against Kaur were filed on April 1 at the Model Town police station in Ludhiana, according to Batth, who added, "We are investigating the allegations." Her cell phone and BMW have both been taken by the police.
Kaur was brought before a judge who ordered her to spend the next two days in police custody. She has many accounts on Instagram and approximately two lakh followers, in addition to a Telegram account. She would draw attention to herself by sharing semi-naked images and videos on social media.
On April 1, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Jasneet Kaur at the Model Town police station in Ludhiana under Sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the India Penal Code.Lucky Sandhu, a local leader of the Youth Congress in Sahnewal, was also charged with making extortion calls to wealthy folks in the area at Kaur's urging. According to authorities, he is currently on the run and is being sought after.
