‘I have blacklisted your company’: Job seeker’s shocking reply leaves recruiter speechless
In today’s job market, things are not the same anymore. Conversations between recruiters and candidates are becoming more open, more direct, and sometimes unexpectedly blunt. Many professionals are now speaking more honestly about their past workplace experiences, especially when those experiences were not positive.
A recent viral post has once again highlighted this change. It is based on a simple recruiter call that quickly turned into a strong rejection. But what made it go viral is not just the rejection, it is the way it was said and the reason behind it. The incident has now become part of a larger online discussion around work culture and employee experiences.
The incident was shared by a Reddit user who received a call from a recruiter working with a large Indian multinational company in the NBFC sector. The recruiter told him that his profile was a good match for a role.
However, the response from the candidate was very direct. He said, “I said I have blacklisted YOUR organization. I have no interest in working with such an organization; please don’t reach out again.”
After saying this, he laughed and ended the call.
The candidate’s reaction was linked to his earlier experience with the same organization. He had worked there as a consultant and described the experience in a negative way.
He said there was extremely poor work life balance. He also mentioned that there were no proper systems or structured processes in place. According to him, most of the work was managed through “jugaad.” He further added that managers avoided putting things in writing, which made accountability difficult.
He described the organization as “one of the sh*ttiest in terms of WLB, work culture, and other basic expectations.”
After sharing the post, the user also reflected on his reaction. He admitted that it may not have been the most appropriate way to respond and called it “kiddish” or “meaningless.”
At the same time, he shared how the moment felt personally. He wrote, “Turning down an organization, calling it a blacklisted company in the recruiter’s face felt amazing…felt satisfying and relieving.”
He also added that if the company contacted him again through email, he was prepared to send a strong complaint that would “make the CEO cry.”
The post quickly gained attention online and many users shared their reactions. A large number of people supported the candidate and said they understood his frustration.
One user commented, “Finally, employees are fighting back!”
Another wrote, “This is the energy we all need in 2026.”
A third user said, “Recruiters ghosting and lowballing candidates for years…karma is delicious.”
Several users also shared similar experiences, especially in sectors like banking, fintech, and NBFC, where long working hours and unclear systems are often discussed.
