Hyderabad man caught making ginger-garlic paste in shocking dirty conditions

Hyderabad is facing yet another food safety scare. A small unit making ginger-garlic paste was running in unhygienic conditions. Such an incident shows how some kitchen staples can reach stores and restaurants without proper safety checks.

Raid in Borabanda

Food safety officers and the Khairatabad Zone Commissioner’s Task Force conducted a surprise check in Madhura Nagar, Borabanda. They found a unit called A1 Sahara Gold Ginger & Garlic Paste. The man in charge, Mohd Abdullah, was arrested, as reported by The Hindu.

Dirty and unsafe production

The paste was made in plastic containers without proper cleaning. Chemicals like citric acid and salt were added. It was stored in open tubs, with dust, flies, and dirt getting in. Officials said it was unsafe to eat.

Sold across Hyderabad

According to The Hindu report, the police said the paste was being sold to kirana stores, restaurants, and catering services across the city. The motive seemed to be earning money, not ensuring safety.

License problems

The FSSAI license also had issues. The address on the certificate did not match the actual location of the unit.

Seized goods

As mentioned in the report, officials seized 1,155 kg of ginger-garlic paste, plus machines like a grinder, a weighing scale, and packing materials. The total value is around ₹2.5 lakh.

Legal action

The accused and all seized items are now with the Tappachabutra police station. Investigation and legal action are ongoing.
