Gurgaon’s AC auto rickshaw goes viral, internet says ‘India is living in 2050’
India’s summer this year has been so brutal that people are basically looking for AC everywhere possible - at home, in offices, inside metro stations, and now, apparently, even in auto rickshaws.
A video from Gurgaon has gone viral after people spotted an auto with a fully working air conditioner inside it. And honestly, the internet is treating it like the greatest invention of summer survival.
The now-viral Instagram reel, posted by user @dipanshi___19, shows a blue electric auto fitted with an AC setup. In the middle of this unbearable heat, that alone was enough to grab everyone’s attention online.
Because let’s face it, sitting in a regular auto during peak afternoon hours can sometimes feel like willingly entering an air fryer.
The video jokingly claimed Gurgaon is living in the future, and social media users didn’t completely disagree. A lot of people were genuinely impressed seeing a local auto get such a major upgrade.
What made the clip even more interesting was the green number plate, showing that the vehicle is electric too. For many viewers, that combination - electric plus air-conditioned - made the whole thing feel oddly futuristic, like classic Indian jugaad suddenly got a tech makeover.
And obviously, the comment section had a field day.
One user joked that the most shocking part of the video wasn’t even the AC, but the fact that the auto driver seemed to be using indicators properly. Another person said if autos are becoming premium now, they should at least come in fun colours like pink or Scooby-Doo van blue.
Some commenters claimed these autos may actually be connected to employee transport services in Gurgaon. A few specifically mentioned Hyundai workers using them for short office commutes and metro drop-offs nearby.
But memes aside, people online genuinely loved the idea.
A lot of users said AC autos could actually make daily travel much more bearable during Indian summers, especially for short rides where passengers usually end up sweating through traffic jams. Others hoped the idea spreads across more cities because nobody enjoys melting under the sun while stuck at a red light.
Not everyone was fully convinced though. Some people raised concerns about passenger safety, while others wondered whether these upgraded rides would still stay affordable for regular commuters.
Still, most people online seemed excited by the concept.
For many, this wasn’t just another random viral reel. It felt like a small preview of what public transport in India could eventually look like - smarter, more comfortable, and maybe a little kinder during peak summer heat.
And judging by the reactions, people are absolutely ready for it.
