‘God gave me three signs’: Colombian singer Yeison Jiménez dies in plane crash weeks after haunting prediction
Combia’s music industry is mourning the sudden death of popular folk singer Yeison Jiménez after a plane crash near Bogotá killed him and five members of his team. The accident happened Saturday when a private charter aircraft carrying Jiménez and his band failed to gain altitude shortly after takeoff and crashed into a field near the runway.
Local media reported that the aircraft burst into flames on impact. Emergency services confirmed multiple fatalities, though officials initially stopped short of formally identifying the victims. Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority later confirmed that Jiménez was among those killed and said the crash remains under investigation.
Jiménez, 34, had performed earlier in Boyacá and was traveling toward Medellín before heading to Marinilla for a scheduled show that evening, according to Colombian media reports.
He continued, “Those were the dreams. And in one of the dreams, I did dreamt that we had died and that we were on the news. And it was the third time I dreamt that. God gave me three signs, and I didn’t understand them, I didn’t get them.”
Jiménez also spoke in that interview about a recent emergency landing involving the same aircraft, just ten days before his son was due to be born. “The plane takes off, and as it takes off, I feel something go puff, puff,” he said. “There was no speed, we weren’t climbing.”
He added that his cameraman noticed water leaking from the engine during the incident.
Shortly before his final flight, Jiménez shared a cryptic message on social media that has since been widely circulated by fans: “Recuerden... si la carreta suena es porque va vacía” (“Remember... if the cart makes noise, it's because it's empty”).
“The aircraft was destroyed by fire,” local media reported.
In a statement, Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority said: “The Civil Aeronautics Authority deeply regrets the accident that occurred in Paipa, Boyacá, in which six occupants of the N325FA aircraft died, including the artist Yeison Jiménez. We express our most sincere condolences to their families, friends, and fans.”
As investigators work to determine what caused the crash, fans and fellow artists across Colombia have been sharing tributes online, remembering Jiménez not just for his music, but for the unsettling words he left behind, words that now feel painfully close to reality.

Dreams he spoke about and fears he shared publicly
In the days following the crash, renewed attention has fallen on comments Jiménez made weeks earlier about recurring dreams involving a plane accident. In a December interview with Colombian television network Caracol, Jiménez said he had dreamt three times about dying in a plane crash. “I dreamt three times that we were going to have a plane crash and that I had to tell the pilot to turn around. And when he arrived, he’d say, ‘Oh, boss, thank goodness you told me because something went wrong, but I fixed it, get in,’” he said.Shortly before his final flight, Jiménez shared a cryptic message on social media that has since been widely circulated by fans: “Recuerden... si la carreta suena es porque va vacía” (“Remember... if the cart makes noise, it's because it's empty”).
What is known about the crash so far
According to reports cited by el Colombiano and later the New York Post, the light aircraft took off from Paipa airport in central Colombia but failed to gain altitude and crashed moments later. Five others were killed alongside Jiménez, including his photographer, Weisman Mora, who had posted a final video of the group shortly before takeoff around 4 p.m. local time.“The aircraft was destroyed by fire,” local media reported.
