Beauty in white! Florida sees historic snow, netizens share breathtaking photos and videos

Florida has been hit by record-breaking snowfall as a historic winter storm sweeps through the Deep South and Gulf Coast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a warning on Wednesday, Jan. 22, about the possibility of 'dangerously cold temperatures' for large parts of the South and eastern U.S. In a statement, the NWS Weather Prediction Center said that the 'potentially historic' storm is expected to bring sub-freezing temperatures that will persist throughout the week.

The Sunshine State has transformed into a winter wonderland with the rare snowfall, and despite the extreme weather.

An X user shared pictures and videos of them enjoying the snow and wrote, "We've reached legendary snow status here in Gulf Island National Seashore I'm Pensacola Beach, Florida #flwx."

A netizen on X wrote, “Snow in paradise: Pensacola, Florida got 8.9 inches of snow yesterday! I still can’t get over it!”

Another shared a picture of an orange tree and said, "Meanwhile in Pensacola, Florida, snow covered orange trees."

A netizen wrote, "Can you imagine Florida people trying to drive in that they would have no clue? The palm trees with the snow are beautiful."


“I love seeing snow like this, so atmospheric, especially if it’s work off days,” another user said.

One user shared a video of using a torch to clear the snow in the driveway and said, "Shoveling snow from your driveway, Florida style."

One user said, " I’m in Pensacola, Florida, near the border. Already at 2” and it’s still snowing heavy. This is a truly historic event."
