‘Emily Hart’ unmasked: Indian man used fake AI persona to con 'super dumb' MAGA fans, fund medical school
For MAGA fans, influencers have transformed into some sort of guiding light, carrying them through the hand on the rigid Republican path. Ever since the Trump administration began its second innings in January 2025, the clout of influencers calling for the 'right' kind of America and raising their voice for it has gained extreme momentum, even being invited to White House dinners for their potential influence.
However, one report has revealed just how much the Americans have gone down the MAGA rabbit hole that they were unable to unmask the reality of one of their most followed influencers.
A 22-year-old aspiring orthopaedic surgeon Sam was broke and searching for ways to make quick money online. He made YouTube shorts, sold study notes and was trying everything to fund his medical degree when he stumbled upon the idea of using AI to make a woman and sell photos of her online.
He used Gemini which suggested to him to create a model with the 'MAGA/conservative nice'. This is when in January 2025, Sam created 'Emily Hart' a registered nurse and Jennifer Lawrence look-alike, whom he described as a registered nurse. He posted photos of her ice fishing, drinking and shooting off rounds in a rifle range. “Every day I’d write something pro-Christian, pro-Second Amendment, pro-life, anti-abortion, anti-woke, and anti-immigration,” he told WIRED.
Soon, his content connected with the MAGA audience and every reel he posted was getting views higher and higher: 3 million, 5 million, 10 million. He also created a profile for Emily Hart on Fanvue, an OnlyFans competitor known for its AI-generated content where people "flooded" him with money in exchange for exclusive content and messages. He also sold MAGA-themed T-shirts to profit from the fame and following.
“I was spending maybe 30 to 50 minutes of my day, and I was making good money for a medical student,” he says. “In India, even in professional jobs, you can't make this amount of money. I haven’t seen any easier way to make money online.”
But not just MAGA ideology, Sam also targeted the conservative audience, specifically men of older age as according to Gemini they have higher disposable income and are more loyal.
MAGA influencers, much like their leaders follow a certain type: They tend to be white and blonde, work as emergency responders serving the country and are far-right conservatives. From t-shirts with the American flag to MAGA hats they boldly don it all.
Female influencers have a giant scope in this realm of the social media world for the sheer fact that women supporting conservative ideologies and policies are rare, but wanted. Most 18-29 year old women lean liberal in the US and thus young MAGA women are 'more attention-grabbing', said Valerie Wirtschafter, a fellow at the Brookings Institution to the outlet.
However, liberal women who are woke and pro-abortion among other things are not so welcome in the social space in America, noticed Sam. He learned so when he created a short-lived liberal counterpart for Emily on Instagram. “Democrats know that it’s AI slop, so they don’t engage as much,” he said. “The MAGA crowd is made up of dumb people—like, super dumb people. And they fall for it,” he added.
Moreover, the algorithm does the rest with propagating "rage bait" content where even conservatives arrived in support and liberals in wokeness, on Emily's account. “It’s a win-win situation, because you’re getting engagement anyway, and your content will go viral,” he said.
The revelation of Emily Hart's true identity has created a hot and fiery debate online. While liberals are mocking Republicans, MAGA fans are laughing over the lack of liberal influencers online.
"The liberal version not working is the funniest part of the whole story and nobody's going to want to talk about it," wrote one user on X.
"MAGA is getting scammed by AI Now. Damn my expectations from them were low," added another.
"I’ve said this 1,000 times. If I had no morals I would’ve 100% turned into a MAGA grifter, they literally accept everyone into the community and for some reason they can’t even tell the difference between the fakest looking AI image and a real one," condemned another.
"It's hard for me to condemn this guy because he scams the bad people while complimenting the good people. It's kind of like the Dexter for political scams and without violence," commended another.
As long as it lasted, Emily Hart brought Sam money and ideal content to MAGA fans. While Meta banned 'emily_hart.nurse' on Instagram, Sam has moved on from the niche to focus on his studies.
