What happened at Windsor
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were scheduled to meet Prince William and Kate Middleton at around noon at the Walled Garden area of Windsor. According to reports by the Hindustan Times, the arrival was a little behind schedule as Marine One, Trump’s helicopter, was seen hovering over the castle grounds shortly after midday at around 12:10 pm, which was 15 minutes later than the scheduled time.
When the Trumps finally made their entrance, Princess Kate greeted them with a warm, broad smile and a handshake. The four dignitaries then walked together, with William and Trump engaged in conversation at the center of the group.
They were escorted by the cavalry
They proceeded to meet King Charles III and Queen Camilla outside Victoria House. Middleton and Prince William walked a short distance with the president and first lady to see King Charles and Queen Camilla.
As is tradition, a carriage procession followed through the Windsor grounds.
This procession included the Sovereign's Escort, members of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in full dress, and military units from the Navy, Marines, Army, and Air Force lining the path, though public access was restricted.
During other moments of the event, Trump complimented Princess Kate, calling her “beautiful”—“so beautiful”—as they shook hands, according to Harper’s Bazaar. He was also reported to have greeted Prince William warmly, using “my friend” in the exchange.
The ceremonial display was rich with tradition, from mounted guards in red and blue uniforms to the royal salute and carriage ride. According to CNBC, observers noted the grandeur and official pomp accompanying the meeting, reflecting the longstanding relationship between the US and UK.
