Disney World lights up for Diwali as Mickey and Minnie don traditional Indian attire
For the first time ever, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, came alive with the spirit of Diwali, India’s festival of lights, hosting a spectacular multi-day celebration that blended culture, color, and a touch of Disney magic.
Held from October 9 to 12, the Diwali Dance Fest 2025 marked a milestone for the park, bringing Indian heritage to the global stage through dazzling parades, music, and dance. The event transformed the Magic Kingdom into a radiant spectacle of lights and colors, capturing the essence of Diwali’s message, the triumph of light over darkness.
Travel content creator Pooja Jhunjhunwala shared her excitement on Instagram, writing,
“Diwali Dance Fest 2025 in Walt Disney World makes my inner child so happy. I’ve been coming to Disney World with my family since I was 3 years old, and now to be part of my favourite Indian festival being celebrated here is unreal. Also, this was history in the making, the first Diwali parade at Walt Disney World! Seeing Mickey and Minnie in traditional Indian attire was not on my bingo card for 2025.”
The festival brought together 25 dance troupes and over 450 performers from around the world, filling the park with vibrant costumes, rhythmic choreography, and contagious energy.
Netizens appreciated this celebration of Indian festival. One user said, "Amazing to see Diwali celebrated on a global stage!" A second user wrote, "Diwali isn't just a festival of lights — it's a celebration of hope and togetherness."
A third wrote, "Can we take a moment to appreciate mickey and minnie i mean how cute they are looking in Indian attire"
