Did The Simpsons hint at Epstein Island 25 years ago? The viral episode about ‘creeps on an island’ running the world
The Simpsons has always had this weird talent for getting things right before they actually happen. It’s that goofy yellow family show, sure - but every few years, people look back and go, wait, didn’t they predict this?
From smart tech taking over our lives to global shutdowns, a certain New Yorker ending up in the White House, the pandemic bringing the world to a standstill - the list just keeps growing.
Now, the internet is buzzing again over a 25-year-old episode that feels uncomfortably close to a real-life scandal. Some fans think The Simpsons may have hinted at something like Epstein Island long before the news ever broke.
It’s Season 12’s “The Computer Wore Menace Shoes” from 2000. In it, Homer starts a gossip blog under the name Mr X. At first, he’s spilling real secrets from Springfield and getting loads of attention. But when the tips stop coming, he starts making things up - except for one story that turns out to be true. That one gets him kidnapped by a group of powerful people and dumped on a strange, secret island.
After he escapes, Homer writes that “creeps on an island somewhere are secretly running the world.” And that one line is what’s making people draw links to Jeffrey Epstein’s Little Saint James and Great Saint James islands - often called Epstein Island - where powerful figures were allegedly involved in serious crimes.
There’s also chatter because Department of Justice documents reportedly mention Simpsons creator Matt Groening multiple times, which has added fuel to the online speculation.
Back in 1997, the show referenced Ebola years before real outbreaks hit Congo and Uganda in the 2000s. In 1995’s “Lisa’s Wedding,” you can spot The Shard behind Tower Bridge - even though the building wasn’t completed until 2009. And Lisa becoming president in a purple suit in “Bart to the Future” looked a lot like Kamala Harris’ look years later.
Coincidence? Maybe.
But with The Simpsons, people can’t help but wonder.

So, what’s the episode everyone’s talking about?

Once the recent files were made public, social media went into full conspiracy mode
One user wrote, “The Simpsons told us about the Epstein Files first,” while another said, “The Simpsons warned us about what was happening on Epstein’s island.” Of course, being named in large sets of documents doesn’t mean someone is guilty. Still, that creepy line from the episode feels way too close to reality, especially after Epstein’s death in jail in 2019 and everything that followed. There’s also chatter because Department of Justice documents reportedly mention Simpsons creator Matt Groening multiple times, which has added fuel to the online speculation.
And honestly, this isn’t the first time fans have pointed out how spooky The Simpsons’ “predictions” seem.
Back in 1997, the show referenced Ebola years before real outbreaks hit Congo and Uganda in the 2000s. In 1995’s “Lisa’s Wedding,” you can spot The Shard behind Tower Bridge - even though the building wasn’t completed until 2009.
