‘Creepy and dystopian’: Dog masks and court costumes at Mar-a-Lago party leave the internet stunned, watch video
While he might live in the White House, Trump's heart beats in his historic estate of Mar-a-Lago. A private club and resort in Florida that is also known as the 'Winter White House'. From New Year parties to weddings, this sought-after club owned by the American President is the hub of the MAGA empire and the thriving buzz of its parties.
However, for the rest of the world, only pictures and videos of Mar-a-Lago have helped them decipher just how opulent and magical the Trump castle could be in reality. Many even have visiting the resort in their bucket lists, but after watching a video of a party that went down there recently, it seems netizens are rethinking their choices.
The video captures an opulent setting with poolside dancing and formal attendees under tents, aligning with the resort's identity of lavish gatherings.
"“Let them eat cake”— Entertainers wearing dog masks and Rococo-era 18th-century European aristocratic court costumes danced for Mar-a-Lago guests at a party this weekend," said the caption of the video which has received 260K views and 3.6K likes already.
"Furries at Maralago wasn’t on my bingo card," wrote one X user.
"What in the Eyes Wide Shut is happening here?" asked another.
"That’s not creepy and dystopian at all…" quipped another.
"This is the open outdoor activities...wonder what theme gets played behind closed doors?" questioned one.
"Were guests allowed to give them little treats and pet them too? What in the rich people sh** am I watching here?" questioned another.
The phrase is one of the most popular historically misattributed ones in Western history. It is believed that Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France during the French Revolution said it when she was informed that the French peasants had no bread to eat due to famine.
The phrase became a powerful symbol of aristocratic arrogance and detachment from reality. It essentially says that "If they can't afford the cheap staple food, why don't they just buy something even more costly?"
The origins of the phrase though, lie in the writings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions who wrote: "At length I remembered the last resort of a great princess who, when told that the peasants had no bread, replied: 'Then let them eat brioches.'"
At the time Antoinette was just a child, living in Austria. However, it went on to be linked with her as she became the symbol of everything that was wrong with the monarchy.
Looking at the video, many in the comments related to the phrase, lamenting how the administration had nothing to do with the realities of their lives while lavish parties like such were being enjoyed in luxurious resorts.
"Check out the historical history of the phrase…kinda reminds you that they’re all laughing in our faces while we all struggle to put food on our own tables! Disgusting!" wrote a social media user in the comments.
The viral video
A video going viral on the internet has taken the social media world by storm, revealing just how unique parties at Trump's elite Palm Beach resort are. Shared by an account called @patriottakes on X, the video features entertainers clad in Rococo-era costumes with elaborate dog masks on their faces, dancing around in a party at Mar-a-Lago.The video captures an opulent setting with poolside dancing and formal attendees under tents, aligning with the resort's identity of lavish gatherings.

Netizens react with shock
Many on the social media app questioned if being MAGA now also involved being a furry. Furries are people with an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters. They are interested in animals with human characteristics, an idea that is present in many forms of media."Furries at Maralago wasn’t on my bingo card," wrote one X user.
