Charlie Kirk shooting: What is Valhalla? Kash Patel's message for the Trump ally goes viral
American conservative activist and Trump ally Charlie Kirk was recently fatally shot in the neck in front of a crowd of 3,000 people on Wednesday while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. While he was taken to the hospital shortly, he died afterwards. The 31-year-old was popular for playing an efficient role in revitalising the Republican youth vote and bringing back Donald Trump to the White House in the 2024 presidential election.
The death of the influential figure has had tributes pouring out from the POTUS himself, former US presidents and even world leaders. Among these tributes was one from the FBI chief Kash Patel that has been going viral on the internet. In a recent press briefing on the FBI's investigation into the activist's death, Patel closed his remarks with "I'll see you in Valhalla," as per Newsweek.
In Norse mythology, Valhalla is the mythical hall of slain warriors, ruled by the god Odin. The hall is built with spear shafts and covered with shields instead of a roof and was seen as a place of residence for Odin's chosen warriors in the afterlife.
According to Britannica, the warriors shall reside in Valhalla until Ragnarök (doomsday), after which they will move out of the 540 doors of the hall to fight at Odin's side against the giants.
"“I’ll see you in Valhalla” may be the single cringiest thing I’ve ever seen," wrote a person on X, criticising Patel's use of the word.
"I’ll see you in Valhalla? When did Kash become a Viking? This is embarrassing ," added another.
"I’ve got some news for you, Kash. And then some really good news. Charlie is not in Valhalla. He’s in Heaven, where Christ is. And if you repent and believe in Jesus Christ, then you can see him there," wrote one highlighting Kirk's faith in Jesus.
“Why in the world did Kash Patel mention Valhalla, what kind of Marvel Cinematic Universe government do we have right now?” quipped another.
