Billionaire Bill Ackman donates to ICE Shooter GoFundMe says, 'big believer in our legal principal'

Billionaire investor Bill Ackman donated thousands of dollars to a GoFundMe campaign set up for an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good during an ICE operation in Minneapolis last week, according to the fundraising page and Ackman’s own social media posts.

The GoFundMe was created for Jonathan Ross, the ICE officer whom officials said “fired defensive shots” at Good, a member of an “ICE Watch” network. A $10,000 contribution appears on the page under the name William Ackman. The fundraiser’s description reads: “After seeing all the media bs about a domestic terrorist getting go fund me. I feel that the officer that was 1000 percent justified in the shooting deserves to have a go fund me. Funds will go to help him.”




Ackman later confirmed the donation publicly on X, saying he had also planned to contribute to a fundraiser for Good’s family but was unable to do so.

“I am big believer in our legal principal [sic] that one is innocent until proven guilty. To that end, I supported the @gofundme for Jonathan Ross and intended to similarly support the gofundme for Renee Good’s family (her gofundme was closed by the time I attempted to provide support),” Ackman wrote.



Donations intended to support Good’s wife and children were paused after the fundraiser surpassed $1.5 million, according to the GoFundMe page.

Ackman added that he viewed the incident as a tragedy on all sides. “The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer doing his best to do his job, and a protester who likely did not intend to kill the officer but whose actions in a split second led to her death. Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues that are tearing us apart,” he wrote.

Federal officials have said the shooting occurred during an active ICE operation. Investigators stated that Good was inside an SUV when Ross fired his weapon, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Administration officials have described the encounter as a dangerous confrontation involving interference with law enforcement. Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that Good was attempting to obstruct federal officers and portrayed her death as the result of escalating hostility toward law enforcement.

However, newly released video footage from the agent’s perspective has intensified debate over the incident. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and other Democrats have sharply disputed the federal government’s characterization, saying the agent was “recklessly using his power that resulted in somebody dying.”
