His witty take on the situation, which includes nods to Bengaluru’s weather and cost savings from bike taxis, quickly went viral. His post resonates with many, offering a comical perspective on the city’s traffic woes and giving residents a reason to laugh amid the chaos.
Potholes or free gym? Bengaluru entrepreneur’s hilarious take
A Bengaluru-based entrepreneur, Saurabh Aggarwal, has captured attention on social media with a humorous take on the city's notorious pothole problem. In his LinkedIn post, he jokingly described his daily bike taxi rides as an unexpected fitness routine, comparing the bumpy ride to a cardio or quad workout.
Aggarwal humorously pointed out that balancing on Bengaluru’s "patchy" roads offers an amazing workout for the core and quads. He joked, "Those patchy roads? They're not bugs, they're features!" and added that his fitness tracker probably thought he was doing planks as he navigated through the potholes.
Along with his fitness commentary, Aggarwal praised Bengaluru’s pleasant weather, calling it "perfect" for bike rides, complete with "complimentary AC" and a "refreshing breeze." He also highlighted the cost savings of using bike taxis over Uber, noting that the money saved went straight into his post-ride protein smoothies.
Aggarwal humorously contrasted his bike taxi experience with the often disruptive one-sided phone calls heard in traditional cabs. "The peaceful hum of the bike engine is much better background music for your commute," he quipped. He wrapped up his post with a cheeky remark aimed at gym trainers: “Yes, 'Bangalore Road Warrior' counts as cross-training!"
Social media reactions to the post
Aggarwal’s post quickly gained hundreds of reactions. Some users even joked about tagging the road transport minister to get more potholes, and others shared similar humorous takes, calling out Bengaluru’s challenging roads as "core" exercises.
This isn’t the first time the pothole issue has been addressed humorously in Bengaluru. Sivaramakrishnan Narayanan, co-founder of Fyle, also took to social media to share his idea for an app that rates and reviews potholes. He jokingly pointed out a "7-star pothole" that deserved more recognition and invited others to collaborate on the idea.
