Bareilly thief swallows stolen bracelet during arrest; cops recover it after a bizarre 2-day operation
Yes, actually swallowing it.
It all started with a burglary
The incident traces back to a house break-in reported on March 30 in Bareilly’s Baradari area. Two men - Sikandar, also known as Chota, and his associate Mukesh - were accused of breaking into a house through the roof and stealing valuables.
We’re talking mobile phones, a silver bracelet, and even a Bullet motorcycle.
Police tracked them down soon after, reportedly using CCTV footage and tech support to identify them.
When officers moved in to arrest Sikandar, he was allegedly wearing the stolen silver bracelet.
And then, in a split-second move, he did something no one saw coming.
He took it off, put it in his mouth, and swallowed it.
Just like that.
Naturally, the cops were stunned—but they quickly realised what had happened and rushed him to a hospital.
A recovery plan you don’t hear about every day
An X-ray confirmed the obvious—the 42-gram bracelet was sitting inside his stomach.
For the next two days, Sikandar was kept under close watch. At first, the idea was simple—feed him normally and wait for the body to do its thing.
When that didn’t work, doctors stepped in with medication to help speed things up.
The bracelet was recovered safely, without any surgery. Not exactly the most glamorous recovery operation, but definitely effective.
Not just the bracelet
The police didn’t just stop at that.
They also recovered two stolen motorcycles and around 35 grams of illegal narcotics from the accused.
Both Sikandar and Mukesh have now been sent to jail, and the bracelet has been secured as evidence.
Honestly, you can’t make this stuff up
The thief clearly thought swallowing the evidence would help him escape trouble. Instead, it just made the situation… more complicated.
At the end of the day, the cops still got what they needed.
