Andy Byron’s Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal: Everything we know about the viral moment, HR chief, his wife, and more
Coldplay’s kiss cam thought they captured a sweet moment of a couple enjoying the band’s concert in each other’s embrace. But what the camera caught was the beginning of a corporate and personal scandal that would explode across the internet, drag a $1.3 billion tech firm into the limelight, and leave careers and marriages under public scrutiny.
But when the pair immediately recoiled, Byron ducking out of frame, Cabot covering her face, Martin added: “Oh, what... either they're having an affair or they're very shy.”
The awkwardness was palpable. But for the internet, it was gold.
The footage quickly made its rounds online. But instead of fading into the usual churn of viral content, amateur sleuths on social media began to dig, and they struck gold. Andy Byron’s identity was the first to be confirmed, thanks to his LinkedIn profile.
Andy Byron is the current CEO of Astronomer, a fast-growing data orchestration company recently valued at $1.3 billion. He’s been in the role for over two years and previously held executive roles at Fuze, Cybereason, and Lacework. Educated at Providence College, Byron is a seasoned tech exec in his early 50s.
Andy Byron is reportedly married to Megan Kerrigan, a well-regarded educator in Massachusetts. Kerrigan, 50, works as the Associate Director of Lower School and Hope Graham Program Admissions at Bancroft School. Although neither she nor Byron has made a public statement, online users have observed that Kerrigan has removed “Byron” from her surname on several social media profiles.
Kristin Cabot is Chief People Officer at Astronomer, a role she took on in November 2024. Known for her work in HR leadership at ObserveIT, Neo4j, and Proofpoint, Cabot’s reputation is rooted in building high-growth company cultures. She has a political science degree from Gettysburg College and a track record of scaling companies and winning HR awards.
The Sun reports that when Calbot was appointed in November, Byron released a comment praising her "exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management".He also added: "She is a proven leader at multiple growth-stage companies, and her passion for fostering diverse, collaborative workplaces makes her a perfect fit for Astronomer."
Cabot was previously married to Kenneth C. Thornby, but they appear to have separated in 2018 and finalized their divorce in 2022.
Neither has issued a public statement, and no official comment has come from the Astronomer. A fake apology note allegedly from Byron circulated on social media, but the company has confirmed it was not legitimate.
In an exclusive with The New York Post, a former employee who once reported directly to Byron said: “The text groups and chains of former employees are like … everybody’s laughing their ass off and enjoying the hell out of what happened and him getting exposed.”
The source claimed Byron had long been known as a difficult boss, describing him as an aggressive, sales-driven executive.
Further, former CEO and co-founder Ry Walker distanced himself from the mess, posting on X: “I’m no longer involved in @astronomerio… yes I was co-founder and early CEO—not on the team or board since 2022, and have no information on ColdplayGate.”
While there’s no confirmation from Byron, Cabot, or Astronomer about any disciplinary action or resignations, the public damage has been done. Memes are circulating. Speculation about infidelity, HR violations, and company image is widespread.
The concert moment that sparked it all
It all happened at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston. The band, known for its uplifting anthems and audience engagement, used a kiss cam to spotlight happy couples in the crowd. When the camera zoomed in on two seemingly affectionate attendees—Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot—the band's frontman Chris Martin quipped: “Oh, look at these two.”The awkwardness was palpable. But for the internet, it was gold.
