Anand Mahindra's giant parantha video sparks Pizza vs. Paratha debate
Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Group, recently shared a video showcasing the preparation of a giant parantha—as big as a truck wheel! The video depicts cooks preparing a massive wheel of dough, stuffing it with vegetables, and then cooking the parantha on a giant pan. The footage also captures the cook flipping the giant parantha with the help of a large spatula, followed by cutting it into pieces to serve different customers.
This video not only caught the attention of the industry conglomerate but also of famous actors. When Anand Mahindra shared the video with the caption, "Who needs Pizza when you can have Paratha?" the response came from Abhishek Bachchan, saying, "Truth!"
One user expressed fascination with the video, stating, "Parathas are like the OG! You can stuff it, roll it, fry it, and eat it with pretty much anything—from spicy curries to sweet jams. And the best part? It's the ultimate comfort food! It's like a warm hug from your Indian grandmother."
Another user argued, "Pizza is highly processed. Paratha is less processed. We were born with paratha; pizza is a later addition. Paratha gives a feeling of one of our own; pizza is something borrowed."
"The debate on pizza versus paratha is meaningless; both are captivating cuisines and delightful to taste. There is no need to favour one over the other. A thoughtful class in this country seems to be suffering from an inferiority complex, leading them to view everything from a nationalistic perspective, which is not correct. Embracing diversity is beautiful and can unite an entire geography into an integrated entity. It's a narrow-minded view," commented another user.
The video has garnered more than a million views and thousands of likes and comments. The views are only increasing, but the question remains—which of these two do you prefer: Pizza or Parantha?
