Passengers arriving from Bengaluru walked into the baggage claim area and instantly sensed something different. The space was dressed up for Christmas, and the luggage belt looked like one massive wrapped present. And then came the real surprise. Along with suitcases, bright gift boxes started rolling out, one for every passenger. Passengers were welcomed with personalized Christmas hampers, each thoughtfully tagged with the traveler’s seat number – adding an authentic and meaningful personal touch.

It took a second to sink in. And then the smiles followed.

One passenger shared the moment on X, writing, “Landed in Mumbai from Bengaluru and walked into a genuinely heartwarming surprise at the baggage belt.” The post went on to say, “Christmas gifts for every passenger. Each gift box is tagged with your seat number. Small gesture, big smile. Merry Christmas! Thank you, Air India, for making the day a little more special.”

Naturally, curiosity kicked in. People opened their boxes and found festive treats inside, chocolate crinkle cookies, cinnamon cookies, and vanilla kipferl from Marriott Bonvoy. Soon enough, photos of the neatly packed goodies were all over social media, and the attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. Later, Marriott Bonvoy confirmed to The Times of India that it brought the magic of the festive season to Mumbai International Airport, Terminal 2, with a heartwarming gesture only designed to surprise and delight arriving passengers. The immersive experience transformed the arrivals conveyor belt area into a moment of joy, gifting and emotional connection during the peak holiday travel period. The group also confirmed that the gifts were also given to IndiGo and other carriers’ passengers.





The moment quickly went viral. Social media reactions ranged from genuine appreciation to playful humour. One user joked, “Return to Bengaluru, where they would at least get an 800-metre walk to catch their cab.” Another added, “On a lighter note, hope the box didn’t contain the in-flight meal that was never served.” Someone else summed it up perfectly, “Christmas came early.”
