Bandra-Worli Sea Link

The Bandra-Worli Sea Link, also called the Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, is a cable-stayed bridge that connects Worli in South Mumbai and Bandra in Mumbai's Western Suburbs. Completed in 2009, this 5.6-kilometer-long bridge is an engineering marvel that has reduced travel time between the two points from 60 to 10 minutes. It stands on two towers, each 126 meters high, resembling the letter ‘M’ for Mumbai.

Statue of Unity

Standing at 182 meters, the Statue of Unity is the world’s tallest statue, representing Indian statesman Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Located in Gujarat, it was completed in 2018 and is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. The statue required 210,000 cubic meters of cement, 25,000 tons of steel, and 1,700 tons of bronze. It serves as a monumental tribute to Patel’s role in India’s independence.

Chenab Railway Bridge

The Chenab Railway Bridge is the world’s highest rail bridge, located between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The bridge spans the Chenab River at a height of 359 meters (1,178 ft) above the river. It was fully completed and inaugurated in August 2022. The bridge was expected to open to rail traffic by December 2023 or by January/February 2024 but has been rescheduled to July. The bridge includes a 1.3-kilometer-long viaduct designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 260 km/h and temperatures ranging from -20 to 40 degrees Celsius.

Atal Tunnel

The Atal Tunnel, formerly known as Rohtang Tunnel, is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh and is the world’s longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet. Completed in 2020, the tunnel stretches 9.02 kilometers and reduces the travel distance between Manali and Leh by 46 kilometers. It is a strategic asset that ensures all-weather connectivity in the region.

Akshardham Temple

Delhi’s Akshardham Temple is a modern architectural marvel that blends traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary engineering. Completed in 2005, it features intricate carvings, 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, and more than 20,000 statues. The temple complex is more than 100 acres in size and has an IMAX theater, a park, and a singing fountain.

New Pamban Bridge

The New Pamban Bridge is a state-of-the-art railway bridge under construction that will connect the town of Mandapam in mainland India with Rameswaram on Pamban Island. It is set to replace the iconic Pamban Bridge opened in 1914. The new bridge, measuring 2,070 meters (6,790 feet), will be India's first vertical lift sea bridge. It is slated to open at the end of 2024. The bridge will have 100 spans across the sea and is 12.5 meters above sea level, 3 meters higher than the old one. The vertical lift span of the bridge is around 72 meters, which can be lifted using automatic lifting technology to allow ships to pass through, providing a navigational air clearance of 22 meters above sea level.

Ram Mandir, Ayodhya

Built in the Nagara architectural style, the Ram Mandir is a magnificent temple complex located in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The temple, which spans 2.77 acres, was consecrated on January 22, 2024. It features towering spires, or shikharas, and is constructed using pink sandstone. The temple complex includes several smaller shrines dedicated to other Hindu deities, reflecting the cultural and spiritual heritage associated with Lord Rama.

Dhola-Sadiya Bridge

The Dhola-Sadiya Bridge, also known as the Bhupen Hazarika Setu, is a beam bridge that spans the Lohit River in Assam. It is India’s longest bridge over water, measuring 9.15 kilometers. Inaugurated on May 26, 2017, the bridge connects the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, enhancing connectivity and national security. It was constructed with the capability to support the weight of 60-tonne tanks, reflecting its strategic importance.
