5 Indian consumer brands that are most recognised globally (the first one is hard to guess)
The Indian brand industry is consistently expanding, and there are some Indian brands that have got immense recognition across the world!
Recently, banker and advisor Sarthak Ahuja posted a video on his Instagram account listing the top 6 well-known Indian brands that have made a mark globally. However, The Times of India has not independently verified these claims.
According to his listing, guessing the top-most globally recognisable Indian brand is tough, and he says that he found in his research that Bharti Airtel operates in 20 countries, Zomato in 24, Tata Motors in 26, Aditya Birla Group in 36, TCS in 55, and topping the list is Jaquar, with a presence in over 55 countries!
Jaquar Group is a shining example of a family business turned global leader, dominating the bathroom fittings industry worldwide. With operations in more than 55 countries, Jaquar’s products are seen in luxury hotels and homes from Dubai to South Korea. According to Ahuja, they hold a 60% share of India’s bath fittings market and sell over 4.5 crore fittings annually. According to their official website, their success stems from seven manufacturing units in India, an R&D facility in South Korea, and a third-generation family leadership that combines innovation with entrepreneurship.
The Aditya Birla Group is a diversified Indian conglomerate with interests in sectors like cement, metals, textiles, and telecommunications, operating in 36 countries, according to Ahuja. This multinational corporation excels in delivering a balanced mix of manufacturing, services, and consumer goods. Its strategic investments and partnerships have enabled it to extend its reach to markets across Asia, Africa, and beyond.
Tata Motors, part of the prestigious Tata Group, is synonymous with automotive innovation in India and abroad. With operations in 26 countries, it manufactures commercial and passenger vehicles ranging from cars to trucks. Known for introducing affordable and robust vehicles like the Tata Nano, the company also focuses on electric mobility and smart transport solutions. Its ability to blend cost-effectiveness with quality technology has solidified its reputation as a leading automotive brand from India.
Zomato, India’s popular food delivery and restaurant discovery platform, operates in 24 countries, serving millions of users worldwide, says Ahuja. Known for making dining experiences easier with reviews, menus, and delivery services, Zomato has become a trusted companion for foodies globally. The company’s user-friendly app and innovative delivery logistics helped it expand into international urban markets, adapting to diverse culinary cultures.
Bharti Airtel is one of India’s largest telecom operators with a presence in more than 20 countries, mainly across Africa and South Asia, according to Ahuja. Known for affordable and reliable mobile and broadband services, Airtel has become an indispensable brand for millions globally. The company’s focus on digital innovation and customer service helped it expand rapidly in emerging markets.
