UK-based artist Liz West exhibits an immersive light-based installation in New Delhi

As part of the Culture Connects global programme in India, the British Council and Public Arts Trust of India are showcasing Tiered Reflections, an immersive light-based installation by renowned UK artist Liz West. Originally created for Jodhpur Arts Week Special Projects Edition, this captivating artwork reimagines the geometric beauty of the iconic Toorji ka Jhalra stepwell’s central pavilion. Now, as part of the India Art Fair 2025, the installation has been adapted and reinterpreted for its special display in New Delhi. The new presentation retains the colours that reference Toorji ka Jhalra while introducing bold hues that reflect the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
Tiered Reflections combines mirrored surfaces with vibrant colours to pay tribute to the stepwell’s intricate architecture, while embracing the evolving energy of its surroundings. The kaleidoscopic play of light and reflection creates an ever-changing, immersive experience, inviting visitors to engage with the art in a meditative and sensory way. This dynamic installation captures a harmonious blend of history and modernity, offering a fresh perspective on the relationship between time, place, and colour.
