Telugu songs are larger than life and they bring out a whole new side to me, says Nakash Aziz

, singer Nakash Aziz can���t help but reminisce how his entry into the playback singing world happened with Vande Mataram for the film,

discovered him six years ago, this Mangalorean from a family of singers composed for jingles and devotional albums. ���When Mickey flew me down to Hyderabad for singing Vande Mataram, it was the first time I was coming here since my school days. But ever since Hyderabad keeps calling me back.���
And why not? After all, with his repertoire of 42 songs in Bollywood and Tollywood, some of them chartbusters and crowd favourites everywhere from clubs to wedding parties, Nakash is a clear favourite. However, he downplays his successes. ���So far, I have sung three songs in Tollywood ��� Vande Mataram for Leader, Tauba Tauba for

Sardaar

and Blockbuster for

Sarrainodu

and I am told they are all hits. So, I have a 100 per cent success rate here (laughs). But honestly, I don���t keep track of these songs. Once I sing a song, I forget about it. I have fun with music, and hits and misses aren���t really something I worry about as an artiste.���

to the most recent The Break Up Song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil are high on energy, Telugu songs, he says, takes it a notch higher. What he loves most about the Tollywood experience, he says, is the fact that he gets to indulge the ���mass��� in him.
���Telugu cinema and its music are larger than life. The energy of the songs here is always a notch higher and so, as a singer I have to bring out that side of my singing spectrum too. And I love it!��� he enthuses.
Although he is a winner in the studio when it comes to playback singing, what wins him over every time is the opportunity to sing live. ���That is what I am built for. I am actually a very shy person but when I���m on stage nothing matters more than connecting with the people in front of me with music. I can probably perform with my fly open too,��� he quips, before adding, ���On a serious note, live shows require you to be aware of the audience and improvise based on the response. There are times when you instantly connect with the audience, which is certainly a different high. But sometimes, it���s not so easy. That���s when the performer in you becomes important. When you perform live, you get just one chance to nail it. Playback singing is relatively easier because we have retakes. Performing live to a packed house in Hyderabad is high up there on my wishlist.���
