The loss of

legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam

saw many eminent personalities take to social media, not just to offer condolences to his family, but also grieve the loss.

Apart from Tollywood celebs and eminent personalities all over the country, even Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid condolences. Sharing a post on social media, he called Balu a ‘household name across India’ and paid condolences to his family. He wrote, “With the unfortunate demise of Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam, our cultural world is a lot poorer. A household name across India, his melodious voice and music enthralled audiences for decades. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti.” (sic)


On Friday night, there was a health update from the private hospital SP Balu was admitted at in Chennai which said that the singer’s health has deteriorated further and he is extremely critical. However, on Friday afternoon, the hospital authorities announced the singer has passed away at 1.04 PM. The announcement read, “In a further setback this morning, despite maximal life support measures and the best efforts of the clinical team, his condition deteriorated further and he suffered a cardio-respiratory arrest. With profound grief, we regret to inform that he has passed away on September 25th at 13:04 Hours.” (sic)

SP Balasubrahmanyam had tested positive for Coronavirus and in the month of August and he got admitted at the hospital on August 5. After battling with the virus for a month, he finally tested negative on September 4. However, he was on life support even after he tested negative and he finally passed away this afternoon.
