Music Review: Sainyam

Directed by JP Sravan Kumar; Sainyam stars Vikranth Singh, Bhanu Prakash and Sanju Chowdary in lead roles and features music composed by debutant Venkatesh Bolla. The four songs on the OST have been penned by Sreekanth.
First up is Hey Rango Rango crooned by Dhanunjay. The typical Tollywood commercial number opens the album on a clichéd yet peppy note. Dhanunjay’s vocals in this upbeat number are plain okay, so are Sreekanth’s lyrics that liken life and its intricacies to the festival of Holi.The music by Venkatesh Bolla too doesn’t leave a mark.
Ramya Behra’s Aashale Alavale switches things up with its emotional tone. Ramya Behra’s vocals uplift this number, so do Sreekanth’s lyrics and Venkatesh’s music.While there’s nothing concrete that sets this number apart, Ramya’s vocals still make it a delight to listen to, despite the gloomy vibes it emits.
Mannulo Minnulo by Sudheer brings up the tone of the album again, but the music by Venkatesh is completely reminiscent of retro films that try to emita machismo vibe through the music. The vocals by Sudheer are good enough and the lyrics follow suit too. The tune of this number is, however, jarring with Sudheer’s voice sounding shaky when he tries to hit a high pitch.
Aashey Adigina Payaname by Dhanunjay ends the album on a jarring note with the music and vocals trying too hard to pour life into the lyrics. But strangely, Aashey Adigina…is one of the better songs of this album, which is otherwise filled with disappointment.
All in all, the album of Sainyam gets a huge thumbs down from us. Barring Ramya Behra’s Aashale Alavale, nothing in the album seems to work, especially when it comes to the music. Give this one a skip this weekend.
