Music Review: Prati Roju Pandaage
The OST of Prati Roju Pandaage, starring Sai Dharam Tej and Raashi Khanna has five songs composed by Thaman S. The album begins with the title song, Prati Roju Pandaage, a typical Tollywood number with KK’s lyrics that talks of the importance of having your loved ones around you. However, the music or the tune do nothing much to set this number apart. Sri Krishna’s vocals fail to make an impact on this number. Next up is Oo Baava, which keeps in line with traditional wedding numbers. With vocals by Satya Yamini, Mohana Bhogaraju and Hari Teja, the song teases the brother-in-law with questions about his impending married life. The vocals are on-point, so are KK’s lyrics, tune and music. This one’s a winner. The next one is the massy number Thakita Thakita, which sees lyrics by Kasarla Shyam. This one takes the typical route again and doesn’t set itself apart from songs from the same genre. Rahul Sipligunj and Geetha Madhuri’s vocals leave an impression, but the lyrics and music are just average. Vijay Yesudas’ Chinnataname, which features lyrics by Seetharama Sastry, is an old-school number that makes you feel nostalgic. The lyrics, tune, music and vocals in this number are a stark contrast to the rest of the songs on this album. More classical in tone, it is an absolute delight to listen to, even if it gets a tad bit melodramatic at times. Vijay Yesudas’ vocals in particular make this one a clear winner. Ending the album on a high is the party number You Are My High with Raashi Khanna, Deepu and Rahul Nambiar’s vocals and Srijo’s lyrics. This number will be an absolute delight for fans who love both Raashi’s vocals and Thaman’s music. The number, with an EDM touch, is a typical Thaman number which sees fun lyrics, tune and music. Deepu and Rahul’s vocals too are good enough. All in all, the album of Prati Roju Pandaage has something in it for everyone. While most of the numbers are routine numbers, Oo Baava, Chinnataname and You Are My High still manage to stand out. Give this one a try this weekend, especially if you’re a Thaman fan.
