Music Review: Kousalya Krishnamurthy
Album:
Genre: Tollywood
Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao’s
First on the album is the crowd-favourite Muddabanthi with Krishnakanth’s lyrics. The number is as much a hit in Telugu as its Tamil counterpart was. The lyrics talk of the tenderness of a man’s love for a woman who just hit puberty. Yazin Nizar manages to bring in the right emotion, even though his vocals sometimes sound a little too melodramatic.
Raakasi Gadusu Pilla is an adorable, peppy number that has vocals by Ananya Nair, Rahul Sipligunj, Roshitha and lyrics by Rambabu Gosala. The lyrics, yet again, weigh in with their meaning, talking of a naughty young girl who seems to be the apple of her father’s eyes. The vocals are decent, while the music is fun.
Third on the album is Repati Kala, with Swaraag Keerthan, Manisha Errabathini’s vocals and Ramajogayya Sastry’s lyrics. The lyrics are inspirational, and talk about how effort is needed to gain anything in life. Ramajogayya’s lyrics are a steal, so are Manisha’s vocals. Swaraag’s vocals and Dhibu’s music too manage to elevate the number with just the right amount of drive.
Savaal has vocals by Revanth and lyrics by Kasarla Shyam. The number also incorporates rap and rap lyrics by Rabbit MAC. While the number is a peppy one, Revanth does an okay job with the vocals to match up to Dhibu’s music.
Bringing the album to a close is Ooge Pachani with Anurag Kulkarni’s vocals and Krishnakanth’s lyrics. This one’s a heartbreak number, which talks of shattered dreams and missed opportunities. Anurag does a beautiful job in this number, which has poetic lyrics. Dhibu too reins it in, delivering perfectly subtle music that suits its melancholy vibe.
The album of Kousalya Krishnamurthy is good for a one-time listen. The music tends to be a bit too melodramatic at times, but that’s not to say Dhibu’s music doesn’t work, because it does in its own strange way. However, the clear winner in this album are the lyricists, because it is their poetry that works for the most part. Give this one a chance this weekend, especially for the old-school peppy vibe. We’re sure, you won’t regret it.
