After Kabali,

Ananthu and Shweta Mohan’s Chittamma, written by Vanamali is a beautiful romantic number that really stands out from the rest of the album. The lyrics, tune, music and vocals of this number are a treat to music lovers, and give one a soothing feel. Ananthu does a fabulous job in this one, ably supported by the chorus.
Raaye Naa Range Leela penned by Vanamali and sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Pradeep Kumar and Ananthu is a run-of-the-mill number. After two stupendous numbers, this song really lets down the listeners and fails to generate any kind of interest. Sounding like any average Tollywood ‘fun’ number, this one’s a miss.
The next number, Nikkal Nikkal sung by Pranav Chaganty, Dopeadelicz is a commendable fusion-desi number which has lyrics by Pranav Chaganty and Dopeadelicz. Arunraja Kamaraj’s rap juxtaposed with its folksy music and Hindi-Telugu lyrics gives it a funky and addictive feeling. Santhosh manages to bring the album back on track with this song.
Pranav Chaganty and Dopeadelicz’s Poradathaam is yet another delightful number with some incredible music, rap and lyrics. The rappers have done a good job for the song by wonderfully conveying the soul and spirit of the lyrics. Chandrabose pens some powerful lyrics for Nele Maa Hakku, sung by Vijay Prakash and Ananthu. However, its tune and music turn out to be a huge disappointment for listeners, failing to let the number stand out, despite Vijay and Ananthu doing a wonderful job for the track. Pranav Chaganty and Dopeadelicz’s Maa Veedhula, which has Vijay Narain’s vocals is an impressive number from the album. It woos listeners with some striking lyrics, beautiful vocals, tune and music. The last track of the album is Onti Thala Raavana crooned by Roshan Jamrock and Arunraja Kamaraj and written by Vanamali, Sreeramakrishna and Roshan Jamrock. Ganesh Ram PS’s rap elevate the song to another dimension. When Rajinikanth’s popular dialogue from the movie, Kya re, setting aa, is inserted halfway through the song, it creates a powerful impact on the listeners.
Barring Raaye Naa Range Leela and Nele Maa Hakku, Santhosh Narayanan delivers a near-perfect album. Apart from his music, Pranav
Chaganty and Dopeadelicz also need special mention for their wonderful lyrics and rap. Give this one a listen this weekend because the jukebox of Kaala is a delight not just for Rajinikanth fans, but also for all music lovers.
Pa Ranjith
and Rajinikanth are back with another offering, Kaala, also starring Easwari Rao and Huma Qureshi in lead roles. The film has eight songs composed by Santhosh Narayanan. The first track of the album is Yama Great, which is the Telugu version of Tamil chartbuster, Semma Weightu. Penned by Pranav Chaganty and Dopeadelicz, it features Hariharasudhan and Santhosh Narayanan. The song is a powerful one that delightfully conveys the film’s concept. Fun-filled and easy-going, the lyrics however struggle to find their footing a bit in this song, but its tune, music, beat box and vocals are remarkable.Ananthu and Shweta Mohan’s Chittamma, written by Vanamali is a beautiful romantic number that really stands out from the rest of the album.
