Music Review: I Love You

Album:

I Love You

Genre: Tollywood

The jukebox of Upendra and Rachita Ram starrer,

R Chandru

’s I Love You contains four songs that are composed by

Dr Kiran Thotambyle

,

Aria Dakshin

and Hari Gowra with

Dr Challa Bhagyalakshmi

penning the lyrics.

First up is Dachanule Chala Chala, composed by Aria Dakshin with Sai Charan Bhaskaruni’s vocals. The number kicks off the album on a tepid tone, hinting at the atrocity that is to follow. With out of tune and pitiable vocals, tune, lyrics and music, this one’s an assault on the senses.

Sai Charan Bhaskaruni lends his voice to Matalani Mounamaaye too. This one fares slightly better than the previous number, in the sense that it is not out-of-tune. However, the music, tune, lyrics and especially, the vocals fail to make an impression, with the number sounding like it was picked off from another era.

Romeo Juliet Ante features Sai Charan Bhaskaruni and Harika Narayan’s vocals, and begins with the dialogue Upendra’s character spouts in the trailer. This one’s yet another forgatablesong that attempts to be ‘cool and edgy’ by providing a to-and-fro between the male and female character. But the number is, yet again, an assault on the senses.

Lovvu Antene also sees Sai Charan Bhaskaruni and Harika Narayan lend their vocals. This one too opens with a dialogue by Upendra’s character. This is the quintessential number that every South Indian commercial film seems to have these days — the heartbreak number. However, it meanders all over the place to find its tone but never does. Satya Yamini’s romantic number Tholi Tholi Ga and Hari Gowra’s heartbreak number Banda Rayi meet the same fate.

The album of I Love You is a major dud and you’d do yourself a great favour by staying away from it. Give this one a major skip this weekend.
