Music Review: George Reddy

Album:

George Reddy

Genre: Tollywood

Jeevan Reddy’s hard-hitting George Reddy, featuring Sandeep Madhav in the lead, has an OST of five numbers composed by Suresh Bobbili. The album opens with Adugu Adugu, which describes the

revolutionary

spirit of the late student leader. Vocals by Revanth are powerful, while lyrics by Megh Raj play up the mood, making this song a sure-shot winner.

Then comes Bullet, bringing in a romantic vibe to the story. This number is penned by Mittapally Surender, while Sathyavathi (Mangli) lends her voice. This mass number looks out of place in the album and doesn’t quite work, thanks to its repetitive lyrics and cliched tunes.

Up next is Vijayam, penned by Chaitanya Prasad, the song reflects the

social movement

led by the students against the powers that be. This is an upbeat number belted out by Anurag Kulkarni, and one that is sure to resonate with all music lovers.

A complete contrast to the other songs in the album is Nalage Anni Nalage, a calm and emotional track that speaks about the love of a mother towards his child. With Charan Arjun’s fine job as both lyricist and singer for this one, Nalage Anni Nalage is worth a listen.

The album closes with Jaajimogulali, a folk number narrating the struggles of the students of Osmania University. Soulful yet impactful, Indravati does a tremendous job with the vocals, and the number is penned by Vishwas.

All in all, the OST of George Reddy is a treat for music lovers. With good music and fine lyrics, it’s definitely worth listening to this weekend.
