Music Review: First Rank Raju
Album:
Genre: Tollywood
The
Ayyoo Raama with Sundhi Chauhan and Yazin Nizar’s vocals is a romantic number that sees the female lead confused about the male lead’s behaviour, but still declares her love for him. It’s only Sundhi and Yazin’s vocals that make this one a worthy listen for the music, tune and lyrics.
Chalo Re Chalo with Tippu and Deepu’s vocals sounds like a number from another era. While the lyrics talk of the importance of friendship, the heavily auto-tuned number with outdated music, tune and vocals is an okay listen. The hook line even sounds like it’s lifted from Jalsa’s famous Chalore Chalore Chal at a point. A huge thumbs down.
Anwesha Dutta’s Nuvve Nijam Nuvve Kala is a surprisingly beautiful, retro-sounding number that’s shot in the snow-clad locales of Gangtok. While the tune does not always leave a mark, it is Anwesha’s vocals, Vanamali’s lyrics and Kiran’s music that saves the day. A delightful number to listen to, this one’s a winner.
Mohit Chauhan lends his vocals for the last number on the album, Aa Ghaghananiki Meghame Thodu where he does what he does best, give his all for a heartbreak number. The lyrics, music and vocals of this one too are surprisingly beautiful, even if the tune that sounds retro doesn’t always work.
All in all, the album of First Rank Raju is good enough for a one time listen with only Nuvve Nijam Nuvve Kala and Aa Ghagananiki Meghame Thodu standing out remotely. Give this one a chance this weekend if you want to listen to something new, if not unique.
First Rank Raju
The
Telugu
remake of theKannada
film First Rank Raju released this Friday, with theOST
consisting of five songs composed by Kiran Ravindranath and penned by Vanamali. Opening the album on a witty note is the title song crooned by Vyas Raj. The number is the same one used in the teaser and trailer, with the rap-style lyrics describing its geeky protagonist. Easy on the ears and to hum along to, the number is an okay one. It’s the lyrics that make this one a fun listen.Ayyoo Raama with Sundhi Chauhan and Yazin Nizar’s vocals is a romantic number that sees the female lead confused about the male lead’s behaviour, but still declares her love for him.
