Music Review: Aravindha Sametha
The Thaman musical, Trivikram directorial, Jr NTR and Pooja Hegde-starrer
Anaganaganaga, crooned by Armaan Malik and penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry shakes things up with its peppy music and tune. The romantic, fun number has the typical Thaman mark when it comes to its music, with his drums. While sounding plain okay on the first listen, the number grows on the listener upon repeated hearings. This number is the first single that was released from the
album and fans fell in love with it. Featuring stupendous violin music; this one’s worthy of loop.
Next-up is also a fan favourite, the heart-wrenchingly and beautiful Peniviti. Featuring Kaala Bhairava’s vocals and Ramajogayya Sastry’s lyrics, the song is hummable and has lyrics that talk of a woman’s pain while she waits for her husband to return home. The loneliness and longing is captured beautifully both in the vocals and lyrics, and it’s only Thaman’s music that seems out of place at times. The Rayaseema flavour is brought forth beautifully in this number too, which has an addictive tune. This one’s a winner too.
Ending the album on a typically massy note is Reddy Ikkada Soodu, sung by Daler Mehndi and Anjana Soumya, penned by Ramajogayya Sastry. It seems like this song is there in the film just to allow Jr NTR show off his dance moves. While beginning on retro note, the song soon turns upbeat. A typical Tollywood number with its music, vocals and tune, the number nonetheless ends on a high note. The auto-tuned vocals and typical music however, do make this number seem out of place with the rest of the album.
Despite featuring only four numbers, the jukebox of Aravindha Sametha sets itself apart with its authenticity. However, while the earthiness of the theme comes through the vocals and lyrics, it’s missing in Thaman’s music. Peniviti is our definite top pick of thisalbum, followed closely by Yeda Poyinado. Anaganaganaga too is a peppy number that works. Give this one a chance this weekend; you might just end up falling in love with the Seema dialect.
Aravindha Sametha
is one of the most awaited films in Tollywood right now. The songs received stupendous response from fans, even before the full jukebox of the film was released. The short and sweet album is a delight for music lovers too, featuring four songs penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry and Ramajogayya Sastry. The album begins on a sombre note with Yeda Poyinado, featuring Nikhita Srivalli, Kailash Kher and Penchal Das’ vocals. The number penned by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry and Penchal Das has a quintessential folk flavour and an eerily calm vibe for a song so painful. Nikhita’s calm vocals set the pace for the number before Kailash Kher and Penchal’s vocals kick in midway. Penchal’s vocals are definitely the standout of this number, grabbing attention from the other singers. The music though seems to have a Keeravani flavour to it, reminiscent of the music in Baahubali.album and fans fell in love with it. Featuring stupendous violin music; this one’s worthy of loop.
