It’s great that South Indians have embraced me as one of their own: Armaan Malik

Last week, Armaan Malik added another feather in his cap after his hit song

Butta Bomma

was adjudged the Viral Song of the Decade at the Mirchi Music Awards (South). Calling it the biggest song in his career till date,

Armaan

says, “The best part about Butta Bomma is that it has a global appeal and even those who don’t understand the

language

have appreciated it. The biggest compliment that I received for this song was when a listener told me that she has a smile on her face whenever she listens to it. I’m glad that my work is making people smile during these tough times.”

The singer has started the year with a bang with four back-to-back releases in the South — Guche Gulabi (

Telugu

), Yaare Yaare (

Kannada

), Hey Manasendukila (Telugu), and Maamazhai Vaanam (Tamil). “I have always dreamt of becoming a multilingual singer and it feels great that South Indians have embraced me as their own. I’ve made a conscious effort to sing in more languages and expand my discography, and it has worked out wonderfully over the last few years,” says Armaan, who made his international debut with the English song Control in March 2020.

The singer also recently featured in the lyrical video of Kanti Papa Kanti Papa from Pawan Kalyan-starrer Vakeel Saab, along with music composer Thaman. “It’s amazing to get an opportunity to sing for Pawan sir and to feature in the lyrical video and be a part of the whole experience is just incredible. The response to the song has been great and I hope things will go even better from here,” he adds.
