Will Madhavan say yes to play Varun Tej’s boxing coach?

Actor Varun Tej has been prepping hard to play a boxer in his next. The sports drama to be directed by Kiran Korrapati, is all set to go on floors this January, and we hear that actor Madhavan could be roped in to play Varun’s boxing coach in the film. “The makers are in talks with Madhavan and are confident of bringing him on board. Given his strong performance as a boxer in Saala Khadoos, the makers felt that he would be apt to play Varun Tej’s coach in the movie.

Although he expressed interest, he is yet to give his nod. A few formalities are being ironed out and an official announcement will soon be made,” revealed a source from the film’s unit. There were several actors in the running to bag this role, including Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, but the makers have zeroed in on Madhavan and hope to bring him on board. “It’s a crucial role that will see him share a close bond with the lead actor, Varun Tej. Their journey as coach and pupil will be emotional and powerful, it’s bound to take the audience on a roller-coaster ride,” shares the source, adding, “Ramya Krishnan is also a part of this project and will be playing Varun Tej’s mother in the film. The shooting will commence in Vizag in January, before moving to Hyderabad and Delhi.”
