The moment
Shiva Kandukuri had been waiting for his entire life finally arrived. The actor is thrilled to debut with Choosi Choodangaane, which released on Friday.
“I feel like this is a dream come true. Ever since I was studying engineering in the US, I was waiting for this moment. I even tried my hand at theatre for a couple of years to make sure I was ready for my silver screen debut.
I hope the audience like me,” shares the excited debutante.
Choosi Choodangaane, which is produced by Shiva’s father
Raj Kandukuri under Dharmapatha Creations, will showcase the life of Sidhu (Shiva’s character) over a period of eight years. “Just like me, Sidhu too is an engineering student who wants to pursue his passion. In his case, he wants to be a photographer. I wanted my character to be as natural as possible so that people could relate to me and I’m confident the audience will walk out with a smile on their faces after watching this romcom,” says Shiva, adding, “The film breaks a lot of stereotypes with the way the other characters are etched too. There’s a stay-at-home dad and a female drummer with a male best friend, which most Telugu films don’t have.”
Although Shiva has got his big break in films thanks to his father, the actor says he’s willing to put in the hard yards and prove his worth as an actor. “I come from a privileged position and there are a lot of struggling, deserving actors out there. I know I’ve gotten it easier than them. But I don’t want to let the opportunity I’ve gotten go to waste. I’ll work twice as hard to make it worth it and make sure play characters that are good enough to stay in the audience’s hearts,” he says, signing off.
